Landscape Lighting Maintenance For Peak Performance
Once your outdoor landscape lighting system is installed, you’re ready to enjoy it forever! Right? Well, sort of. You see, your outdoor light fixtures have a lifespan, just like anything else. But with annual maintenance, your outdoor lights can stay as beautiful and functional as the day they were installed.
At Lighting Designs, we recommend at least one maintenance visit each year to ensure peak performance of your landscape lighting system. Twice per year is optimal. That’s because normal wear and tear, accidental breakage, and various weather conditions in the Durham area can alter your landscape lighting system. And unlike purchasing your outdoor lighting from a local lighting store in Raleigh, Durham or Burlington—where you won’t be offered any service after installation—Lighting Designs will take care of your system before, during, and after installation.
If it’s been more than six months since your outdoor lighting system has been maintained, it’s time to schedule an appointment. Here are just a few things we’ll take care of during your annual or semi-annual maintenance visit:
Replace Outdoor Lighting Bulbs
Even though LED light bulbs last much longer than traditional lights, your outdoor lighting bulbs will burn out and need replacing from time to time as well. We’ll check the function of each light and replace any bulbs as necessary.
Readjust Light Fixtures
Occasionally outdoor light fixtures can get knocked over while kids and pets are at play or while mowing, weed trimming or performing other yard work. An off-kilter light can affect the aesthetic lighting of your home at night. It’s easy to overlook. So we’ll take the time to be sure that each light is situated properly.
Trim Plants Covering Your Landscape Lighting
Let’s face it… Raleigh, NC, has an extended growing season. And your plants are bound to want to take over your yard. We encourage you to keep up with your yard maintenance throughout the year by trimming back any bushes or branches that may get in the way. However, we’ll be happy to take care of any minor trimming during your maintenance visit.
Check for Moisture Damage
Water can be the enemy—both inside and outside of your home. So we’ll be on the lookout for any moisture damage to your landscape lighting fixtures. In addition, wires can sometimes work their way to the surface or get dug up by a dog or other animal. We’ll check the condition of any exposed wires, then repair, replace, and rebury them as needed. If anything needs fixing or replacing, we’ll take care of it on the spot!
Lighting Designs installs and maintains outdoor lighting systems in the Raleigh, Durham, Chapel Hill, and the Greensboro, High-Point, and Burlington areas.
