Frequently
Asked Questions:
Q:
Why should you choose a Lighting Designs outdoor lighting specialist
to install your outdoor lighting system?
A: As a homeowner, you have invested time and money into the exterior
architecture and landscaping of your home. Outdoor lighting projects
are often installed by the original home builder or an electrician who
do not specialize in outdoor lighting. The results are often blinding
flood lights and obnoxious pathlights that take away from your residence
rather than add. With specialists like Lighting Designs, we not only
install the system, but we are readily available to maintain the system
and replace burned out bulbs. Lighting Designs is always available to
past customers in need of lamp replacements, general maintenance and
technical assistance. This is especially important when there is an
immediate need for service - i.e. a party or reception is planned.
Q:
Why shouldn't I just go to Lowe's or Home Depot and spend half the money?
A: Our first response to this frequently asked question is that you get what you pay for.
Landscape lights from Lowe's or Home Depot are
manufactured with the least amount of quality…from the light bulbs
themselves to the fixture. For example, the bulbs in our well lights
are rated at 4,000 hours whereas Lowe's or Home Depot's bulbs only last
for about 400 hours. Another thing is the quality of the light fixture.
Lighting Designs fixtures come with a ten year guarantee. In most cases
when the homeowner does decide to purchase their lights from Lowe's
or Home Depot we usually hear from them within a year or so. It never
fails, with these cheaper systems something always seems to go wrong
within the first year they were purchased. Over time your investment
in a quality Lighting Designs' system will prove to be of greater value
than the alternative. You will have a lower maintenance, more durable,
energy efficient and trouble-free system that adds value and beauty
to your property.
Q:
Can you leave out some lights from the original demonstration so that
we can cut the cost of the job?
A: Under most circumstances, straying from the original design by removing
fixtures or other components will not produce a satisfactory end product.
Additionally, adding fixtures in the future is always more costly than
doing things right the first time. Every fixture in the design has a
specific purpose in the landscape, like pieces of a puzzle. If pieces
are left out, the end result is simply incomplete. Focal points, accented
features and transitional or fill lighting are all necessary components
needed to create a visually pleasing night scene and add depth and texture
to the property.
Q:
Will my house contribute to nighttime light pollution?
A: No. Low voltage, low wattage outdoor lighting fixtures create desirable
effects which has hardly any effect on light pollution in your city
or town. Dark colors like greens and browns found in plant materials
absorb much of the light which results in reduced reflected light or
visible light in the landscape. Our well designed systems have a degree
of adjustability that can be modified to suit the individual owner's
taste.
Customer satisfaction is always guaranteed.
Q:
Will an outdoor lighting installation tear up my yard?
A: No. All the work is done by hand with the utmost care. No heavy machinery
is used except in extremely rare circumstances. Many customers comment
that they never would have known our specialists were there if it wasn't
for the beautiful nighttime lighting effects left behind.
Q:
When do I pay for my system?
A: If paying with cash or by check, payments are usually received the
same night of the installation when final adjustments are being made
to your system.
B: Lighting Designs also accepts all major credit cards.
